Google has heavily focused on Gemini in the last couple of years, integrating the AI chatbot in Gmail, Android, Google Drive, and its other services. Despite this widespread push, several Google platforms, including Wear OS, tablets, and Android Auto, still lack Gemini access. This should change by the end of this year, with Google bringing its AI chatbot to its other popular platforms.

With Google I/O scheduled from May 20th to 21st, we will possibly hear the company talk more about Gemini's expanded availability at its developer conference.

Gemini is already the default assistant on most Android devices now, but it's still missing on Android tablets, Wear OS watches, and Google's own smart display/speakers.

Several reports in recent months point to Gemini expanding across more of Google’s platforms. Code found in the Google beta app suggests that Gemini will come to Wear OS as a "wearable" assistant, supposedly as an update to the existing Assistant app. The company could bring Gemini to its smartwatches through an app update and then further deepen the integration with Wear OS 6's release.

Similarly, code strings found in a recent release of Google Assistant for Android Automotive indicate that Google is working hard on porting Gemini to its car platform. In his remarks during the call, Pichai also shared that Google is building AI models tailored for emerging areas with strong growth potential, such as robotics.

AI is and will continue to be a big deal in the near future. Given that it holds the potential to significantly improve the user experience and workflow, it is not surprising to see Google working on expanding its availability to more of its platforms. The company even confirmed late last year that it wants to scale "Gemini on the consumer side" in 2025.
